The fight left one detainee dead. The fight was confined between the detainees in one compound and was not directed at U.S. forces. The guards regained control of the compound and immediately began rendering medical treatment. Efforts to save the detainee's life ended when he died as a result of his wounds. Twelve other detainees were injured during the fight. The guards conducted a headcount and all detainees at Camp Bucca have been accounted for. The remains will be transferred to the Iraqi government and returned to the family upon completion of an autopsy. This is standing procedure for all detainees who die while in custody of the Multi-National Force. Camp Bucca is located in the southeastern region of Iraq and holds more than 6,000 detainees.
